Evangelos Kalampokis is an Asst. Professor of Information Systems and eGovernment at the Business Administration Dept., University of Macedonia, Greece. He is also affiliated with the Hellenic Open University in Greece and the Information Technologies Institute of the Centre for Research & Technology - Hellas (CERTH-ITI) in Thessaloniki, Greece. He holds a Diploma (MEng) in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece, an MSc in Business Administration-MBA from the University of Macedonia, Greece and a Ph.D. on "Linked Open Government Data Analytics" from the same University. His main research interests include Digital Government, Digital Health, Business Intelligence, (eXplainable) Artificial Intelligence, Large Language Models, and Knowledge Graphs.
During the last fourteen years, he has been a technical consultant in numerous EU co-funded research projects and initiated many of them (e.g., H2020 OpenGovIntelligence and FP7 OpenCube). Between June 2009 and November 2011 he has been a research intern at the Digital Enterprise Research Institute (DERI), the largest Semantic Web Research centre worldwide. He has served as a proposal evaluator and project reviewer for the European Commission under the Horizon Europe framework programme.
Since 2016 he has been teaching Information Systems, Business Intelligence, and Artificial Intelligence at the Business Administration department of the University of Macedonia, Greece and the Hellenic Open University. Evangelos Kalampokis has published in high impact journals including Internet Research (Web of Science 2022 IF: 5.9), IEEE Intelligent Systems (Web of Science 2022 IF: 6.4), Journal of Web Semantics (Web of Science 2022 IF: 2.5), and the Journal of Biomedical Informatics (Web of Science 2022 IF: 4.5). In total, he has published more than 80 papers in international journals and proceedings of international conferences and workshops.
He organizes the "AI, Data Analytics & Automated Decision Making" Track at the merged EGOV-CeDEM-EPART 2023 conference and the "Explainable Artificial Intelligence in the Public Sector" track at the International Conference on eXplainable Artificial Intelligence (xAI 2023). From 2014 to 2019 he co-chaired the International Workshop on Semantic Statistics, which was co-located with the International Semantic Web Conference.
